The Nintendo SWITCH Will Launch With No Video Apps

Yup. No Netflix. No HBO Go. No Hulu. No YouTube. No Crunchyroll. Nothing. Do you think this will be a deal-breaker for the many gamers out there that use their consoles for far more than just gaming?

While Switch's predecessor the Wii U offered apps for Netflix, YouTube, Amazon and Hulu, the Nintendo Switch will launch on March 3 with no such support.  Is this a huge mistake?  Nintendo confirmed the lack of video streaming support to Kotaku.  A company rep stated, "All of our efforts have gone toward making the Nintendo Switch system an amazing dedicated video game platform, so it will not support any video-streaming services at launch.  However, support for video-streaming services is being considered for a future update."  Chances are high that unless you're absolutely dying to play the new Zelda game, many will wait to purchase a Switch until such services are provided, at least in the West.  Many gamers are already taking to the forums to state that they're cancelling their pre-orders and will simply wait for the inevitalbe Holiday Bundle.  

However, it seems the lack of video support didn't deter any gamers in Japan as the Switch sold out in minutes back on the consoles launch on January 20.  Maybe we could be mistaken?  But we'll find out for sure when the $300 Switch launches on March 3.
