MONSTER HUNTER: New Release Date For The Upcoming Live-Action Movie Has Been Revealed

According to recently revealed information, Paul W.S. Anderson's live-action adaptation of the Monster Hunter series has been given a new release date, although it is still releasing in December.

For the longest time, the release date for Paul W.S. Anderson's live-action Monster Hunter movie has been shrouded in mystery. We have had several updates on the day it is supposed to hit theatres, but the movie has been constantly been rescheduled.

At some point, Monster Hunter was expected to arrive in theatres in April of 2021, but it was later pushed forward to December of this year. The date was also changed, but it was ultimately revealed that the movie would finally release on Wednesday the 30th of December.

Deadline reports that Sony Pictures Releasing and Screen Gems have moved the release date once again, and Paul W.S. Anderson's Monster Hunter film will now be releasing on Friday the 25th of December; particularly making sure to go up against DC and Warner Bros. Pictures' Wonder Woman 1984.

Unlike Wonder Woman 1984, however, Monster Hunter will be getting a theatrical release. DC and Warner Bros. have decided to give their superhero film a theatrical release, but they have also made sure to have the film releasing digitally on HBO Max; also on Christmas Day.

As of this writing, it is unknown whether Sony Pictures and Screen Gems have also considered releasing Monster Hunter digitally, especially now that DC Films has changed their strategy in regards to the release of Wonder Woman 1984.

Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Captain Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower.

Monster Hunter is expected to hit theatres worldwide on Friday the 25th of December.
