In less than one month
, Sonic the Hedgehog will race into theatres as the star of his very own live-action movie. Ben Schwartz serves as the voice of the titular speedster, Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik. James Marsden and Tika Sumpter also star while Jeff Fowler directs.
Recently, some new stills from the upcoming video game movie surfaced online (via
IMDb). These images feature shots of all of the aforementioned cast members — including Sumpter, who has hardly featured in any promotional material up until now.
We're shown our best look yet at Carrey as the dastardly Dr. Robotnik as well as some moments that featured in the film's trailer but have now been altered slightly. Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
