Just yesterday, the cast of
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge was announced —
more on that here. It's an upcoming animated movie, based on the iconic and popular video game series of the same name, that's in the works at Warner Bros. Animation — and is unrelated to the live-action
Mortal Kombat movie that's also in the midst of production.
Ethan Spaulding (
Batman: Assault on Arkham) directs a script by Jeremy Adams (
Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans). Rick Morales (
Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders) and Jim Krieg (
Batman: Gotham by Gaslight) produce. Ed Boon will serve as a creative consultant.
Boon is credited as co-creating the
Mortal Kombat video game series and served as the director of the most recent instalment —
Mortal Kombat 11. He recently took to social media to tease the upcoming video game movie. According to Boon,
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge is not a family affair but will actually be quite brutal.
This will certainly be good to hear if you're a fan of the video game series. They won't be softening the blows simply because it's an animated movie. Instead, it sounds as if
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge will be just as barbaric as the video games that it's based on.
