Jumanji: The Next Level is now in theatres! The film is a sequel to
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle which surprised everyone back in 2017 by actually being pretty good and doing incredibly well at the box office — almost earning $1 billion.
Sony Pictures are hoping for similar success with
Jumanji: The Next Level. Despite early reactions being very positive from general audiences, the film recently debuted on
Rotten Tomatoes with a disappointing Tomatometer score of 67%. This score takes into account 148 reviews from professional critics from across the web.
The Critics Consensus is as follows:
"Like many classic games, Jumanji: The Next Level retains core components of what came before while adding enough fresh bits to keep things playable."
However, the Audience Score is much higher and even matches that of its predecessor. Both Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level hold an 87% Audience Score rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This score takes into account over 400 reviews from your average moviegoer rather than professional critics.
In Jumanji: The Next Level, the gang is back but the game has changed. As they return to Jumanji to rescue one of their own, they discover that nothing is as they expect. The players will have to brave parts unknown and unexplored, from the arid deserts to the snowy mountains, in order to escape the world’s most dangerous game.
Jumanji: The Next Level is set to release in theatres on December 13th, 2019.
