Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is a remake of
Pokémon: The First Movie — which originally released back in 1998. While the latter was animated in a traditional two-dimensional way;
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution makes use of modern 3D CGI and released back in July 2019 — primarily in Japan.
On February 27th, which just so happens to be Pokémon Day;
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will become available to stream on Netflix.
This will be the first
Pokémon movie to premiere in the west through a streaming service rather than on television or in theatres. For
Pokémon fans outside of Japan, this will essentially be their first chance to watch the animated movie — that premiered months ago in Japan and has been available on Blu-ray and DVD ever since.
An exciting, new trailer for
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution has been released online and it shows off what to expect from the upcoming addition to the streaming service. Check it out below (via
