The
Sonic the Hedgehog movie was first revealed to the world back in April 2019. Suffice it to say, fans were far from pleased with the first official trailer and certainly opposed to the titular speedster's character design. The backlash was so great that the movie's director promptly took to social media to announce that they would delay the film in order to rework the character design.
Thankfully, the movie's second official trailer debuted in November 2019 and this time around fans were more than pleased with the character design and the overall tone and direction of the video game movie. However, it wasn't just Sonic's blue body and expressive face that was redone but also his shoes. PUMA retweeted the trailer with the quote
"Nice kicks fam."
Fans took this as a tease that PUMA would be bringing these shoes to life —
more on that here. The sportswear brand has now returned with an even more overt tease that they're soon going to be selling Sonic's shoes. Over on their official Instagram story, they posted a brief promotional clip that teases
"Coming soon."
