Greg Russo, who's writing the live-action Mortal Kombat reboot, has taken to Twitter to tease plans for another video game adaptation. With Mortal Kombat now filming, Russo has turned his attention to the Saints Row film, which has Straight Outta Compton's F.Gary Gray attached to direct.
According to Russo, the screenplay is coming along great for the project, which is in the very early stages of development. The project is actually being spearheaded by Koch Media, which is the parent company of Deep Silver Volition, which publishes the game. It seems Koch will develop the project and then look to partner with one of the bigger film studios for distribution. The Mortal Kombat reboot is set to be released in January 2021 so it will be interesting to see if Russo and Gary Gray are still the lead creatives attached when the project actually starts filming. Gary Gray is coming off Men In Black:Internaional, which was a spectacular failure for Sony. If both the screenwriter and director are coming off flops, don't be surprised if Koch makes a change.
