Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is set to hit theaters on April 8th, 2022. A follow-up to the first instalment that came out in 2020, this film will see Ben Schwartz return as the titular blue blur and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik. The sequel will also be introducing Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles the Echidna.

The first trailer for the film will be released tomorrow during The Game Awards — find out more on that here. The first official poster for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was released prior and gives us our first look at Miles 'Tails' Prowler in the sequel. This character briefly featured in the first instalment as a post-credits teaser.

In that post-credits scene, Tails was voiced by Colleen O'Shaughnessey. This seasoned voice actor has confirmed (via Toonado) that she will be reprising the role for Sonic the Hedgehog 2. O'Shaughnessey has played Tails in various video games and animated projects since 2014: the Sonic Boom animated series and Team Sonic Racing video game, to name a few.

It will certainly be easier on fans of Sonic the Hedgehog to accept this new version of Tails seeing as they will sound just like they do in the games. Check out O'Shaughnessey's tweet below (via @VOColleen):
