The Sonic the Hedgehog movie starring James Marsden, Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and Ben Schwartz as the voice of the titular speedster debut back in early 2020 — just about predating the worldwide pandemic. The video game movie fared surprisingly well both monetarily and critically considering how movies based on video games usually go down; as such, a sequel was confirmed back in May 2020.
Jeff Fowler reprises the role of director and the cast is also expected to return, with at least one newcomer in the former of Idris Elba as the iconic character, Knuckles. Colleen O'Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails will also feature in a larger role in the sequel as compared to the after-credits tease they were relegated to the first time around.
As of now, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is scheduled for April 8th, 2022. We're yet to see anything in regards to it, though, beyond some set pictures that surfaced online and featured Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles stood side by side on a street. It seems that's about to change, though; that's at least what fans are speculating.
A Sonic the Hedgehog fan (@MarshMations) simply requested a hint towards the anticipated trailer and Paramount Pictures provided, simply stating "Happy Thanksgiving!" along with a coy emoji. For those who don't know (likely those outside of the United States), Thanksgiving takes place on November 25th — just days from now.
Though this all seems well and good, and the comment by Paramount Pictures does seem legitimate, we recommend you don't put too much stock into this just in case it doesn't come to fruition. Should it, though, be sure to check into Gamefragger.com on November 25th as we will be sure to cover the trailer the second it drops.
