Sonic the Hedgehog will grace theatre screens on February 14th for the first time in his very own live-action feature film. Ben Schwartz stars as the voice of the titular, blue speedster and Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik. James Marsden and Tika Sumpter play Tom and Maddie Wachowski while Jeff Fowler directs.
With the film's release fast approaching, Paramount Pictures has been releasing TV spots and stills as of late. Finally, the first official clip from the upcoming video game movie has been released. This clip comes courtesy of
Movieclips Coming Soon and features both
Sonic the Hedgehog as well as Tom Wachowski.
In the film's trailer, we see that Tom shoots Sonic with a tranquilizer dart. We can infer from the dialogue that this clip takes place soon after that and before an action-scene that featured prominently in the trailer — that being Dr. Robotnik's drones slicing the top of Tom's truck clean off.
It seems that Sonic initially attempts to go it alone but soon realises that he can't swim — probably a nod to the video games in which he also can't swim — and doesn't know where he's going. So, Sonic comes right back to Tom for help and the two embark on a roadtrip. Check out the clip for yourself below:
