Sonic the Hedgehog will race into theatres in precisely a month's time — the perfect Valentine's Day flick. Ben Schwartz stars as the voice of the titular speedster while Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik. Jeff Fowler directs and the cast also includes James Marsden and Tika Sumpter.
Earlier today, a brand new TV spot for the upcoming, live-action video game movie surfaced online. Apparently, this spot originally aired on Nickelodeon. Included in the TV spot is a bit of new footage. We're shown Sonic the Hedgehog taking on Dr. Robotnik's drones, charging up amongst a mass of fluorescent, blue lightning, and dancing as he makes his way down the side of a building.
There isn't that much new stuff to see in this trailer but the
Sonic the Hedgehog fanbase certainly seems content with it. Notably, there's a moment in which Sonic is seen falling. We can briefly see that he's surrounding by golden rings as he falls which is a clear nod to the video games.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
