Sonic the Hedgehog arrived in theatres on February 14th and has managed to be an unprecedented success since. The live-action movie is based on the video game series of the same name, stars Ben Schwartz as the titular speedster and Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, and is absolutely smashing it when it comes to box office numbers —
as you can see here.
Since the movie's release, its director has taken to social media to express his gratitude for the success and remarkable opening. The video game movie essentially served as Jeff Fowler's directorial debut — having only directed animated shorts prior. First of all, Fowler teased a bright future for the hedgehog. This is likely meant as a tease for a follow-up.
"What... a... DAY!!! No words can describe the appreciation I'm feeling right now," Fowler wrote to conclude the first day of the movie's theatrical run.
"You've taken this little blue hedgehog to EPIC heights. We never could have done it without the FANS... THANK YOU for your LOVE and SUPPORT. The future is VERY bright for the BLUE BLUR."
Days later, Fowler took to Twitter again with another tweet of thanks. The director again thanks the franchise and movie's fans for making it the success that it has turned out to be. This time around, he also shared some photos from behind-the-scenes of himself alongside a plethora of the movie's cast. You can check out that tweet below (via

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
