Sonic the Hedgehog is an upcoming, live-action movie based on the popular video game series and character of the same name. Ben Schwartz stars as the titular speedster while Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik. The cast also includes James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, and Jeff Fowler directs.
With less than a month to go until the video game movie arrives in theatres, TV spots have begun to surface online. In this new TV spot, we find out that Sonic the will begin the movie wearing a raggedy pair of unmatching shoes before being provided some sleek and red, new ones.
Who provides Sonic with the iconic red sneakers? Well, it seems to be the daughter of Tom and Maddie Wachowski (Marsden and Sumpter's characters). Up until now, we could only speculate the relationship status of the two characters, as Maddie has been particularly absent from much promotional material, but now it seems a lot clearer.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
