We have some great news for Sonic the Hedgehog fans, as Paramount Pictures and Sega Sammy have officially confirmed that a sequel to the the popular Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie is a go at the studio.
According to Variety, the movie will see the return of Jeff Fowler as the director, while Pat Casey and Josh Miller have also been revealed to return to pen the sequel's script — which is fantastic news considering how well-received by fans the first movie was.
Since the movie is still in very early stages of development, news about casting still haven't been revealed, although it is very likely that — at the very least — Ben Schwartz and Jim Carrey will return as Sonic and Dr. Robotnik. Tika Sumpter and James Marsden are also likely to return, but we'll have to wait for an official announcement.
At the end of the movie we also saw a cameo by none other than Miles "Tails" Prower, so chances are that Colleen Villard — who has been voicing Tails for quite a while, and also lent her voice for the movie — will be voicing this character that will likely be key to the film's plot.
Sonic the Hedgehog Director Jeff Fowler took to social media to express his excitement for the news about the sequel, tweeting a simple, albeit quite exciting and effective "ROUND TWO WITH THE BLUE!!". Round two indeed, Mr. Fowler.
