It's only been two months since Sonic the Hedgehog arrived in theatres but the movie is already available to purchase and download online. Sonic the Hedgehog James Marsden and Jim Carrey as Tom Wachowski and Dr. Robotnik respectively — as well as featuring Ben Schwartz as the voice of the blue blur himself.

While a sequel hasn't yet been officially confirmed as in development, Marsden recently discussed (via Toonado) what he would like to see in one. Beginning, Marsden admitted that they might as well do just the same as they did the first time since it went down so well.

Notably, the actor said that he would like even more action sequences. Interesting indeed since the first instalment certainly featured its fair share. "Well I think we'd do a lot more of the same, but we would probably hopefully throw even more set pieces in there and more action sequences."

Marsden next explained that he wants more fan-favourite characters from the video games to be introduced such as Knuckles, Amy, and Tails — the latter of which the actor specifically mentioned by virtue of them featuring in the first instalment's post-credits scene. Finally, Marsden said that he's hopeful a sequel will be a go once the current global pandemic subsides.

I think we'd hopefully introduce some new characters, some beloved characters from the video game. If you stayed through the credits, you saw a little introduction to Tails. Hoping we'd see Tails come in. You know, who knows? The good thing is, is that hopefully when we come back to earth after this thing and we're still making movies, that Paramount will really fire it up again, and we'll just have double the fun.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

Sonic the Hedgehog is now available digitally — Blu-ray and Ultra 4K HD release set for May 19th, 2020.
