Back in April, Paramount pictures released the first trailer for the very first
Sonic the Hedgehog live-action movie; it was edgy, uninspired, and featured the worst possible design for the iconic blue blur. Needless to say, fans of the
Sonic the Hedgehog series hated it;
including its creator, and the
Sonic's original designer.
Eventually,
Sonic the Hedgehog movie Director Jeff Fowler addressed fans' concerns and announced that
Sonic would be redesigned; with the movie eventually being pushed back from November to the
14th of February in 2020.
Earlier this morning,
Paramount pictures released a brand-new trailer for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, with a phenomenal redesigned Sonic that finally makes the haracter look like its video game counterpart — and fans just can't get enough of it; praising the new design and overall tone of the trailer.
In case someone doesn't remember what Sonic used to look like in that disastrous first trailer — although, truth be told, fans are probably better of not remembering — the people over at GameXplain have made a new video that compares Sonic's old design with the new one.
Check it out:
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog is spin-dashing into theatres on the 14th of February in 2020.
