Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres in exactly a month's time — specifically on February 14th. Ben Schwartz stars as the titular speedster while Jim Carrey plays Dr. Robotnik. Jeff Fowler directs and the cast also includes James Marsden and Tika Sumpter.

With a month to go until release, Paramount Pictures has started releasing TV spots — you can check out the first of those here. Despite the film's release being just a couple of weeks away, it has only just been officiall provided an age-rating. According to the MPA Classification and Rating Administration, the live-action Sonic the Hedgehog movie is fit for "Parental Guidance."

The board provides their reasoning along with the "PG" rating (via @TailsChannel). Apparently, the upcoming video game movie features action, some violence, rude humour, and brief mild language. As for what they're referring to, we can only speculate. We've seen Sonic taking on Dr. Robotnik's robot drones and the speedster tends to be a little irreverent at times.

Basically, it's the rating that we should all have been expecting. There was reportedly a bit of speculation that Sonic the Hedgehog could get a PG-13 rating but that turns out to not be the case. Thankfully, the upcoming movie is fit for a fun night out with the family.

Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
