It has been two months since Sonic the Hedgehog made its debut in theatres. The live-action video game movie stars Jim Carrey and James Marsden as Dr. Robotnik and Tom Wachowski as well as features Ben Schwartz as the voice of the blue blur himself. Jeff Fowler served as director.
Earlier this month, Paramount Pictures officially released Sonic the Hedgehog online (via digital storefronts) earlier than expected on account of the coronavirus pandemic — find out more on that here. Since it's now available to all — and coming to Blu-ray and Ultra 4K HD in May — they've also put together an awesome, official video which reveals some Easter Eggs.
Easter Eggs are essentially small details and tidbits included in a movie or game as a joke or reference to something. In this case, most of the Easter Eggs are references to the Sonic the Hedgheog video game series (via Toonado). For instance, at one point Sonic wears a bandana which features a symbol similar to the logo of the original Sonic the Hedgehog game.
Of course, there's more but we wouldn't want to spoil them. You can check out the video for yourself below (via Paramount Pictures). What's more, this official video only scrapes the surface. There are many more Easter Eggs in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie for fans to discover.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog is now available digitally — Blu-ray and Ultra 4K HD release set for May 19th, 2020.
