Sonic the Hedgehog arrived in theatres back in February. It's a live-action movie based on the popular and iconic video game character and series of the same name. The movie hasn't yet arrived in Japan or China due to the Coronavirus pandemic. However, it is already considered the highest-grossing video game movie of all time in the United States — more on that here.
Ben Schwartz stars as the voice of the titular speedster alongside Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, and Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski. Jeff Fowler served as director.
Last month, we found out that the video game movie would be coming to digital storefronts early on account of the Coronavirus pandemic. It's meant to serve as an incentive for people to stay indoors and watch a new movie rather than go out and risk catching or spreading the disease. Paramount Pictures will also likely make a pretty penny out of it — so it's a win-win.
Just 46 days after the movie's debut in theatres; Sonic the Hedgehog is available in HD on Amazon and iTunes for $19.99. It's considered a PG (for Parental Guidance) and features both subtitles and Audio Description for those that require either.
The digital copy reportedly doesn't include any bonus features, however, those will likely feature as a part of the physical release. Speaking of; Sonic the Hedgehog will release on Blu-ray and Ultra 4K HD on May 19th.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog is now available digitally — Blu-ray and Ultra 4K HD release set for May 19th, 2020.
