The live-action
Sonic the Hedgehog movie has had quite a rocky and unique production but it finally arrives in theatres on February 14th — just two days from now. The live-action cast includes Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter — as Dr. Robotnik, Tom Wachowski, and Maddie Wachowksi respectively. Ben Schwartz also features but only audibly as the voice of the titular speedster.
Schwartz has stated in the past that he's over the moon that he gets to serve as the voice of
Sonic the Hedgehog —
describing it as "like a dream come true," earlier this month. He's also made it clear that he's a pretty big fan of the
Sonic the Hedgehog series — but to what extent was unknown until now.
The voice of
Sonic the Hedgehog recently featured in an
IGN video in which he proved that he's massively knowledgeable when it comes to the iconic, blue speedster. What's more, Schwartz divulges his intentions when voicing the role — what he was going for, basically.
So, check out the video below and allow Schwartz to provide you a rundown of Sonic's personality, design, history, and more.
Sonic the Hedgehog is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
Sonic the Hedgehog races into theatres on February 14th, 2020.
