Currently sitting at an amazing 80% score on Metacritic,
A Plague Tale: Innocence might very well be the biggest success in Asobo Studio's history, a relatively unknown developer best known for co-producing
The Crew and
ReCore. While the French developers have many reasons to celebrate, it looks like the critical success of their latest project is not affecting their initial vision for
A Plague Tale.
In a recent interview with Star News, the game's Narrative Designer Sébastien Renard reaffirmed that
A Plague Tale: Innocence was a one-off project that won't get any major DLCs or sequels anytime soon.
"[
A Plague Tale: Innocence]
is a one-and-done narrative experience," Renard explained. "
We’re all so happy to have come up with a game we can love so much… It’s been a crazy roller-coaster and the whole team is now of course very excited/nervous as we’re a day away from the release," he added.
When it comes to the studio's plans for the future, Asobo will be making original titles, but right now they are focusing on the audience's reaction to
A Plague Tale: Innocence to learn from their mistakes.
A Plague Tale: Innocence, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, tells the grim story of two siblings fighting together for survival in the darkest hours of History. This new video game from Asobo Studio sends you on an emotional journey through the 14th century France, with gameplay combining adventure, action and stealth, supported by a compelling story. Follow the young Amicia and her little brother Hugo, who face the brutality of a ravaged world as they discover their purpose to expose a dark secret. On the run from the Inquisition's soldiers, surrounded by unstoppable swarms of rats incarnating the Black Death, Amicia and Hugo will learn to know and trust each other as they struggle for their lives against all odds.
