Last week, we reported that
Capcom Japan was contacting Resident Evil Ambassadors to playtest a brand-new game that was currently in development; it is safe to assume that this project is a new entry in the
Resident Evil series.
Some new information has revealed that Capcom is currently calling for playtesters in the United States, as Resident Evil Ambassadors have also been contacted by Capcom to show up throughout the month of September in Los Angeles California and New York City, New York.
The first playtest session is scheduled on either the 20th or 21st of September in Los Angeles, and the second sessions will be taking place on either the 23rd or 24th of September; needless to say, only those Resident Evil Ambassadors in the area will be able get their hands on this mystery project.
All bets are off when it comes to the game itself, as it well could be
Resident Evil 8 or a remastered version of
Resident Evil 3, which is the only game in the series that Capcom hasn't re-released in over 15 years; making it a pretty save bet for an upcoming title, especially considering that playtests are already close.
The
Resident Evil 2 remake is a return to form for the series, and it will definitely be interesting to see Capcom re-telling the events of
Resident Evil 3 and maybe continue the story from then on in the form of a soft reboot without drastic time skips like the one in
Resident Evil 4.
Whatever this new
Resident Evil project is, these are defiitely exciting news for fans of Capcom's long-running, and iconic survival horror series.
