We may have some exciting news for fans of the Resident Evil series, as the latest rumour seems to suggest that Capcom will be implementing a virtual reality mode in the upcoming Resident Evil Village. If this were true, fans would be in for quite the treat when the game becomes available for next-gen consoles.
This information was first reported by Biohazard Declassified, who revealed that one of the players who participated in the Resident Evil Ambassador playtest confirmed a VR mode will be added to Resident Evil Village, and that this would be an exclusive feature for the PlayStation 5 version of the game.
The reason why this hasn't been officially confirmed, according to the Resident Evil Ambassador, is because Sony is still not ready to reveal their plans in regards to virtual reality on their highly anticipated next-gen console.
Sony has previously revealed that the PlayStation VR headset will be compatible with the upcoming PlayStation 5, but maybe there is still more to reveal in regards to this specific peripheral that they are letting on. We'll just have to keep waiting for official information from either Capcom or Sony.
With all that said, Resident Evil Village featuring a VR mode is to be expected, considering that VR is also available in the critically acclaimed Resident Evil VII. As a little bit of trivia, Resident Evil VII was one the first blockbuster titles to ever feature this mode, and it made the experience all the more terrifying.
Years after the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Ethan Winters has started over with his wife Mia, finally living in peace and putting the past behind them. However, Chris Redfield, the legendary hero from previous Resident Evil games, suddenly disrupts their life, throwing a devastated Ethan into a new and twisted nightmare in search of answers.
Resident Evil Village is expected to release for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021.
