Resident Evil Village was one of the many surprises that third-party developers had for players during the special PlayStation 5 presentation that took place in June of this year. The announcement trailer may not have shown too much about the game, but Capcom has made sure to reveal some new details since.
Capcom has already revealed why they decided to call this new entry in the series "Village" instead of going with the number for this eight entry in the critically acclaimed survival-horror series, but most of the juicy news have actually come from video game industry insiders.
One insider claimed that Resident Evil Village will also be including a VR mode that, if officially confirmed by Capcom, will give players an even more immersive experience; much like the VR version of the critically acclaimed Resident Evil VII.
A reputable source has also revealed that Capcom will be releasing a brand-new trailer for Resident Evil Village, and that fans of the Resident Evil series should expect said trailer to release any time now, as it is supposed to be shared at some point in August, and we're almost halfway through the month.
AestheticGamer1 — the same source that has accurately leaked information about various games in the past, including Resident Evil — has recently revealed that Resident Evil Village will be Capcom's longest game made using the RE Engine.
For those not familiar with this particular RE Engine, it was the engine that Capcom used when developing Resident Evil VII, and that it has been used for other games like the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, as well as the critically praised Devil May Cry V.
Resident Evil 3 was heavily criticised for feeling like a glorified DLC rather than a fully fledged game, so Resident Evil Village being a longer game, especially the longest game that has used the RE Engine, is definitely reassuring; that is, if the source is to be believed.
Resident Evil Village is expected to launch in 2021, so Capcom still has plenty of time to reveal new information about the recently announced title. Let's just hope that all of the rumours doing the rounds are officially confimed by the developer.
