RUMOUR Suggests That RESIDENT EVIL 8 Could Release In 2021, And That It Will Focus On Chris Redfield

The latest rumour doing the rounds suggests that Resident Evil 8 could be releasing in 2021, and would mainly be focusing on Chris Redfield — who is said to "play an integral role."

According to the latest rumour doing the rounds, as first reported by BiohazardCast, Capcom would be considering to release the next entry in the Resident Evil series at some yet-to-be-determined date in Spring of 2021. What's more, it is said that this new title will be a direct sequel to Resident Evil 7, and will be called Resident Evil: Village.

Before we continue, we have to remind you that this information has been backed by a bunch of sources, but it is still best to be taken with a pinch, or maybe a bunch, of salt. Now that we got that out of the way, let's continue.

As revealed by the leaked information, Resident Evil: Village would be focusing on series' fan-favourite Chris Redfield — who we actually saw in Resident Evil 7, albeit not as a protagonist, and is now said to have an "integral role" in the upcoming title.

Sources even claim that a brand-new enemy called "The Witch" will be introduced, which is a villainesque type of character in the same vein that Mr. X and Nemesis are in Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3, respectively; in order to keep players always on their toes.

An interesting bit of information also revealed that Resident Evil: Village wasn't always meant to be a mainline series title, as it was initially supposed to be a sequel to the Resident Evil: Revelations spinoff series.

Again, take all of this information with a pinch of salt, since most of this information sounds way too specific to actually be accurate. With Resident Evil 3 having just released, it may still be too early for Capcom to reveal details about any new entries in the long-running survival/horror series.

With all that said, and even if these rumours end up being false, with the success that the series has seen in recent years, announcing Resident Evil 8 is more of a certainty now than it was before the remakes were announced.
