GTA ONLINE: Rockstar Will Continue To Inject Single-Player Elements Into Future Content

GTA ONLINE: Rockstar Will Continue To Inject Single-Player Elements Into Future Content

Following the successful release of the Cayo Perico Heist in GTA Online earlier this month, Rockstar Games has said that future content will continue to feature single-player elements.

Although GTA Online is primarily a multiplayer experience, one of the exciting things about the recent Cayo Perico Heist was the ability to play solo or with friends. According to Rockstar Games this sort of flexibility in gameplay is something the developer will continue to explore moving forward.

“It’s something that’s been on our minds for quite some time and the community has been vocal about it,” design director Scott Butchard told GQ Magazine in a lengthy interview detailing the development process of the DLC. ”It’s something we’re keen to carry forward. We want to respect teams and players who want to play co-op. But at the same time still allow solo players to still get just as valid an experience out of it."

Completing the heist has different advantages whether playing solo or with friends but the biggest takeaway is that it allows the player to choose. As Butchard explains, going in solo means you get 100 percent of the cut and it's easier to do stealth. However, the trade-off is that it makes completing secondary objectives harder to complete since you can't do multiple things at once.

With Grand Theft Auto V almost certainly never seeing single-player DLC at this point, the Cayo Perico Heist is the closest thing to it. However, it won't be the last. Rockstar knows what the community wants and, according to Butchard, the plan is to continue to add more single-player elements into GTA Online.

“I think you can see that with Online and I think going forward we’re going to inject more of that single-player element in there,” Butchard added.
