In June of last year, Nintendo surprised us all by revealing that a remake of the Sega Saturn's classic Panzer Dragoon was making its way into the Nintendo Switch; showing off the game's brand-new graphics with a glorious announcement trailer.
Even more surprising was the fact that Panzer Dragoon: Remake was never given an official release date until it was showcased in March's Nintendo Direct Mini; actually becoming available right after the live presentation was over.
While the game received a lot of praise, there were some issues that affected the game's performance. Again, nothing wrong with the game itself, but there were some who complained that the game fel unfinished.
In a recent interview with Panzer Dragoon World, Benjamin Anseaume — who co-produced Panzer Dragoon: Remake — revealed that the game will be getting a massive update that will finally be giving players the definitive version of the game.
According to Anseaume, the upcoming update for Panzer Dragoon: Remake for the Nintendo Switch will be adding support for HD rumble, gyro controls, and will make the game run at a stable 60 frames per second; among other much-needed features.
A new game mode, new cheat codes, gameplay options, an "Episode 0", and even reworked animations for the dragon wil also be added in this upcoming update. Unfortunately, due to Coronavirus lockdown — since the patch needs to be validated by Nintendo Japan — we still don't know exactly when the update will become available, but it does sound like it will be quite the game changer.
A physical copy of Panzer Dragoon: Remake by Limited Run Games was also announced when the game launched last month, but Anseaume didn't reveal if this update will be included in the cartridge, or players will have to download it once the physical copies arrive. It is also worth mentioning that the physical release still hasn't been given an official release date.
