Star Wars: Squadrons has been available for current-gen consoles and PC for a month and a half now. Upon release, the game was received quite positively by critics, although the reviews from Star Wars fans and mainstream players has been a bit more mixed.

Regardless, it is undeniable that the effort the developers at Motive Studios have put into Star Wars: Squadrons has not gone unnoticed. After all, the game does give players one of the most immersive Star Wars experiences out there; an experience that can be enhanced even further when playing in VR.

Today Electronic Arts has got some great news for Star Wars: Squadrons players, as they have just revealed that brand-new content will be added to the game as part of the special holiday supply drop, which even includes some fan-favourite starships from the Star Wars universe.

First things first, Star Wars: Squadrons Update 3.0. will be added on Wednesday the 25th of November, which is exactly a week from today, and will be fixing some recurring issues, as well as make some balancing changes.

The real highlight of this upcoming update, however, is the single player campaign's Forstar Haven map becoming available in multiplayer — which will be particularly added to Fleet Battles and Dogfight mode.

Motive Studios is alsop adding four new components for Fighters and Bombers in the form of a Boost Extension Kit — which, as the name suggests, will give the aforementioned starships a full boost that can be used as many times as players want.

Interceptors and Fighters will be getting Ion Rockets, which Motive Studios reassures will be quite useful against capital ships and flagships. The difference with Barrage Rockets is that players will be able to use Ion Rockets at the same time as other components, but they are slower than the former, so proper timing is key.

Things will get even more interesting in December, when the developers add fan-favourite starships B-Wing and Tie Defenders — as seen on Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi — as well as the fan-requested Custom matches; both of which additions that will be included in Update 4.0. for Star Wars: Squadrons.
