During a recent Investors Q&A, Capcom shared some interesting details about the performance of two of their heavy hitter titles of 2018: Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 and Mega Man 11, with the latter managing to perform better in a shorter period of time.
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 was released in July of last year, managing to sell up to 920.000 copies as of December, according to Capcom. While this collection doesn't really bring anything new to the table, sales at least show that there's still a demographic eager to get more entries in the series that's been dead for almost 15 years.
What's even more interesting, though, is the fact that
Mega Man 11 managed to sell a very respectable 870.000 copies as of December of last year. Unlike
Mega Man X Legacy Collection, though,
Mega Man 11 was released early in October — making the feat even more impressive.
When it comes to the
Mega Man series, both X and Classic, Capcom has not been able to meet the high standards set by the original games — up until the brilliant
Mega Man 11 was released, that is — but the fact that
Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1&2 and
Mega Man 11 performed as well as they did will definitely make Capcom reconsider their strategy moving forward; something that fans of the franchise will surely appreciate.
