Magik is having a moment, and the internet is not being subtle about it.

A 20-second AI-generated clip of the X-Men sorceress sitting at a neon-lit bar, cocktail in one hand and the other slowly rubbing her exposed midriff, has exploded across X. Posted with the simple caption about Magik showing off her stomach, the video has already surpassed 1.8 million views, 32,000 likes, and thousands of bookmarks in just a couple of days. The comments are exactly what you would expect: a lot of gooners, a nonstop parade of people declaring their new main, random emojis, and people joking that they suddenly need to perfect her combos immediately.

It is the latest and most unfiltered example of how hard the fighting game community has fallen for Magik in Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.

The 4v4 tag fighter from Arc System Works and Sony Interactive Entertainment launches on PS5 and PC on August 6, and the recent open beta made one thing clear: Magik is the breakout star. Usage data from higher ranks showed her as the most-picked character, beating out bigger names like Blade, Magneto, and Spider-Man. Players are drawn to her aggressive close-range style, the creative ways she uses Dark Portals for movement and setups, and the satisfying risk-reward of her Soulsword pressure. Official character guides have been racking up views, combo videos are everywhere, and her theme and animations have been getting genuine praise even from people who usually stick to more traditional Marvel heroes.

Then this video dropped and turned the existing hype into full-blown thirst.

The clip itself is pure fan service. Magik, rendered in a sleek black outfit with plenty of midriff on display, lounges at the bar with a knowing half-smile while her gloved hand slowly traces across her stomach. It is the kind of short, loopable, highly shareable content that spreads like wildfire in fighting game circles, especially when the character in question is already winning the popularity contest. Within hours it was being quote-tweeted with reactions ranging from “this is why I’m buying the game” to more explicit declarations of loyalty to the Queen of Limbo. The normal gooner comments.

Magik has always had a striking look in the comics: the blonde hair, the steely blue eyes, the demonic armor, the casual dominance that comes from ruling an entire hell dimension as a teenager. Marvel Tokon leaned into that aesthetic hard, and the community responded. The fact that a relatively deep-cut X-Men character is outpacing household names in a new fighter says a lot about both the quality of her kit and the strength of her presentation. However her popularity in Marvel Rivals probably helped with that too.

Of course, not everyone is purely focused on the midriff. Plenty of players are deep in the lab, figuring out optimal portal routes, corner carries, and how to make her assist work in different team compositions. The character rewards creativity and aggression in a way that feels distinct from the rest of the current roster. That combination of cool factor and strong gameplay is usually what turns a character into a long-term community favorite.

The viral video did not create the Magik obsession, but it poured gasoline on it at the perfect time. With the full game less than two weeks away, the timing could not be better for Arc System Works and Marvel. A character who is both fun to play and good to look at is exactly the kind of dual appeal that helps a new fighter find an audience beyond the hardcore scene.

Whether people are maining her for the portals, the Soulsword, the aura, or simply because they like how she looks, Magik has officially become one of the leading faces of the pre-launch conversation. August 6 cannot come soon enough for a whole lot of players who suddenly have a very clear idea of who they will be trying first. Which character will you be trying first?
