Mortal Kombat II producer Tod Garner is once again treating fans to fresh behind-the-scenes glimpses of the sequel’s production.
His latest update, perfectly timed for Thanksgiving, is an especially exciting one: a slightly off-angle shot that confirms Quan Chi’s presence in the movie, easing fears among some fans who worried the sorcerer had been dropped from the final cut.
The necromancer will be played by Justified star Damon Herriman, a fitting choice for a character who carved out some of the franchise’s most memorable moments in Mortal Kombat 4 and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.
When Quan Chi was absent from the film's debut teaser trailer, some fans feared that Quan Chi might have been cut from the film. But thanks to Garner's behind-the-scenes snap, it doesn't look as if that's the case.
And of course, with Quan Chi's appearance, MK fans are already speculating that Shinnok can't be too far behind...

The film is produced by Todd Garner, James Wan, Toby Emmerich, E. Bennett Walsh and McQuoid, and executive produced by Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Slater and Lawrence Kasanoff.
