Mortal Kombat isn't necessarily a horror franchise, but the fighting game does feature plenty of gore and brutal gameplay, making it the perfect landing spot for Ghostface. The beloved masked killer from the popular Scream movie franchise is making his way into Mortal Kombat 1 via the game's Khaos Reigns expansion pack. Ahead of his arrival this month, Warner Bros. Games and Netherrealm Studios have released multiple teaser trailers.

The first teaser trailer serves as more of an introduction for the character, who is donning his iconic ghost mask and wielding his deadly knife. The trailer begins with the recognizable phone ringing and the iconic line: "Do you like scary movies?" It then cuts to Johnny Cage who is stabbed multiple times. In between the lightning, we get glimpses of the different colored masks, suggesting alternate cosmetics for the character.

A second teaser for Ghostface was shared by franchise co-creator Ed Boon on social media and actually showed off some Ghostface gameplay. This time we actually see Ghostface square off against Johnny Cage.

It's a fairly short sneak peek but does confirm the character's appearance and move set is inspired by the Scream films. He looks to have fast-paced, slicing attacks and at one point calls in some help from Stryker.

Ghostface is coming to Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the game's Khaos Reigns expansion, which launched back in September. He's one of three new guest fighters joining the roster alongside the T-1000 Terminator, featuring the voice and likeness of actor Robert Patrick from the Terminator 2: Judgment Day movie, and Conan the Barbarian, featuring the likeness of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger from the 1982 action film. Ghostface is voiced by Roger L. Jackson.

As Boon notes, Ghostface will be available on November 19th through early access for anyone who owns the Khaos Reigns expansion. The early access period typically runs for one week before the character becomes available for purchase individually.

In addition to the three guest characters, Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns also featured three fighters from the Mortal Kombat franchise: Cyrax, the young Lin Kuei warrior and martial arts prodigy who can leverage cybernetic technology; Sektor, a master armorer and skilled Lin Kuei warrior in her own right; and Noob Saibot is a shadowy henchman created from Bi-Han’s (a.k.a. Sub-Zero) soul. All three of these fighters are already available in the game.

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns features a story expansion and the Kombat Pack 2 set of characters which is not available for purchase separately. It's available for $49.99. Also available is the Khaos Reigns Bundle for $59.99. This includes all of the Khaos Reigns content plus the original Kombat Pack 1.
