Mortal Kombat will be making the jump to the big screen on March 5th, 2021. The video game movie will be the first directing credit of Simon McQuoid and written by Greg Russo — who's also responsible for the scripts of the
Resident Evil and
Space Invaders movies that are in the works.
Joe Taslim (
The Raid) will star as Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada (
The Last Samurai) will play Scorpion, Mehcad Brooks (
Supergirl) plays Jax, Tadanobu Asano (
Thor) as Raiden, Chin Han (
The Dark Knight) plays the role of Shang Tsung, Ludi Lin (
Power Rangers) is attached as Liu Kang, and Sisi Stringer will make her debut as Mileena. Lewis Tan is also a part of the film's cast but his role is yet to be revealed.
Speaking of Tan, the actor recently took to social media (
@lewistanofficial) to share a photo from the set of
Mortal Kombat.
"First blood... It has begun," read the Instagram post which featured a photo of a clapperboard.
Notably, the clapperboard included on it what appears to be an official logo for the
Mortal Kombat movie. It's similar to the franchise's traditional logo but a bit different — as you can see by comparing the below photo to the banner above. However, it's worth noting that the logo on the clapperboard is subject to change and might just be a placeholder for whilst the film is in production.
