Mark your calendars: the upcoming movie reboot of Mortal Kombat will hit theaters on March 5, 2021.
As previously announced, the movie will be helmed by Simon McQuoid, best known for directing commercials, with Greg Russo (who's also developing the Resident Evil reboot for Constantin Films) penning its script. While James Wan (Aquaman, Furious Seven) is no longer producing said Resident Evil flick, he's still attached to the movie reboot of NetherRealm Studios' hugely popular game series.
WB.'s Mortal Kombat will be shot later in the year in Australia as the third live-action adaptation of the brutal fighting games, following 1995's Mortal Kombat and 1997's Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
As a reminder, Noah Centineo and Sony Pictures’ Masters of the Universe will also debut on March 5, 2021 – so it's safe to say that either MotU or MK will change its current release date down the line.
