We're just about a week away from the official release of MultiVersus, but Warner Bros. Games and developer Player First Games are still revealing new playable characters.

The roster for the upcoming platform fighter grew by two today with the reveal of Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and Agent Smith from The Matrix as new playable characters. Both characters will be arrive in the game as part of Season 1: Puns & Villainy, which also features DC Super-Villain The Joker. Jason Voorhees will be available at launch, while Agent Smith will be released later in the season.

Ready your pies, grab a sandwich, and sharpen your skills, cause it's almost time to jump back into the mayhem. Welcome back to MultiVersus, MVPs! MultiVersus is a free-to-play platform fighter with an ever-expanding cast of iconic characters and legendary universes, various online modes, in-game events, on-going content-filled seasons, and more.

Both characters were featured as part of the official launch trailer for MultiVersus. The action-packed cinematic trailer highlights the various heroes and villains you'll be able to play as in the  free-to-play platform fighter.

MultiVersus features an ever-expanding roster of popular characters based on Warner Bros. Discovery franchises. Announced characters currently include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Black Adam, and The Joker (DC); Shaggy and Velma (Scooby-Doo); Bugs Bunny, Tasmanian Devil a.k.a. Taz, and Marvin the Martian (Looney Tunes); Arya Stark (Game of Thrones); Tom & Jerry (Tom and Jerry); Finn the Human, Jake the Dog, and Banana Guard (Adventure Time); Steven Universe and Garnet (Steven Universe); Iron Giant (The Iron Giant), LeBron James (Space Jam: A New Legacy); Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith (Rick and Morty); Gizmo and Stripe (Gremlins); Jason Voorhees (Friday the 13th); Agent Smith (The Matrix); and an extraordinary original creature named Reindog.

Developer Player First Games continues to share surprising announcements ahead of the game's release. Just last week they confirmed The Joker will be featured in the game, and voiced by Mark Hamill.

While the game is billed as a competitive platform fighter, there will also be a PvE mode, caled Rifts, which will offer players a different way to experience the game. In this mode, players will "travel the multiverse and fight their way through a series of encounters, flavored by wacky combat mutators and unique experiences."

MultiVersus is set to release on May 28th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Full cross-play and cross-progression will be supported.
