Following the announcement this summer, Xbox and Treyarch have confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will fully be revealed this August at GamesCom. Black Ops 7 will be revealed during Opening Night Live on August 19th at 11:00 a.m. PT / 2p.m. ET.
"Get ready for epic twists, developer intel, and the official start of a bold new chapter in Black Ops history," Activision wrote alongside a save the date.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 announcemend closed out the Xbox Games Showcase in June. The reveal came with an official teaser that helped set the stage for the next installment in the long-running series.
The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by conflict and psychological warfare following the narrative events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. With cutting-edge technology in hand, the Black Ops team led by David Mason must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else.
Black Ops 7 marks the first time in franchise history that Call of Duty will release Black Ops sub-series titles in back-to-back years. Black Ops 6, which was released in October 2024, featured a single-player campaign that follows rogue CIA operatives Troy Marshall and Frank Woods as they gather a team to take down Pantheon, a paramilitary organization with secret connections to the agency.
Aside from top-level story details, not much else is known about the campaign for Black Ops 7. We do know that it will feature a co-op campaign and a multiplayer mode with new maps and "near-future weaponry." The signature Round-Based Zombies mode willr eturn with its next twisted chapter that takes players to the heart of hte Dark Aether.
The worldwide reveal for Black Ops 7 will likely focus on the campaign portion of the game, as multiplayer is typically saved for a later date. Last year, the multiplayer for Black Ops 6 was revealed at the Call of Duty NEXT event in late August, so it's possible we could get two exciting events next month.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will release later this year, presumably in late October or early November. It will be available through all the usual Xbox offerings -- Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox PC, Xbox Cloud, Xbox Play Anywhere -- as well as Game Pass on Day One. Despite being a first-party Xbox title, it will also be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Battle.net, and Steam.
