Saber Interactive has released an extended cut of the Turok: Origins story trailer after its premiere at Gamescom Opening Night Live. The new sci-fi shooter is scheduled to launch in Spring 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Turok: Origins is a modern revival of the dinosaur-hunting franchise that began with Turok: Dinosaur Hunter in 1997. Players join the Order of the Turok, mystical guardians locked in a war for survival against ferocious dinosaurs and the Xenia, an alien threat seeking to wipe out human life across the galaxy. The campaign takes place across the Lost Lands, a collection of dangerous and visually striking worlds that mix ancient ruins, dense jungles, and alien landscapes.
The game supports both first-person and third-person action. Players can hunt solo or team up with friends in online co-op. Combat mixes a large arsenal of futuristic weapons, including plasma rifles, sniper weapons, bows, shotguns, and experimental alien technology, with collectible Echoes that unlock Turok powers. Those abilities let players customize their combat style and gain an edge in larger encounters.
Boss fights and mixed enemy types are expected to test both individual skill and teamwork. The design leans into high-mobility action while retaining the franchise’s core fantasy of taking down oversized prehistoric and extraterrestrial threats.
The original Turok series became a late-1990s staple for its dinosaur hunting and over-the-top weapons. Nightdive Studios recently remastered Turok 2: Seeds of Evil and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion, keeping interest in the brand alive. Saber Interactive is taking a different approach with Origins, building a new story and modern presentation rather than another remaster of an older entry.
Saber has a long track record with licensed and action-focused projects, including Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, World War Z, and work on titles such as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for Nintendo Switch and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The studio is developing and publishing Turok: Origins in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences.
The extended trailer gives a closer look at the tone and scale of humanity’s fight against the Xenia and the dinosaurs that populate the Lost Lands. No more specific date within Spring 2027 has been announced. The game is available to wishlist on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with Nintendo Switch 2 also confirmed.
Turok: Origins aims to carry the spirit of the classic series into a new generation with updated combat, co-op support, and a fresh narrative centered on the Order of the Turok.
