Today, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will be getting a brand new update. This new update to the game will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Today's update will introduce a new game mode to the first-person-shooter, or rather an updated version of a previously introduced one. Ambush is back and has been entirely revamped, featuring a new ruleset which completely alters the way the mode is played. While it's not quite an entirely new mode, Treyarch says that it will feel as if it is.

Treyarch (via Comicbook.com) teases that the mode has been altered in such a way that it will now be "pure gunplay." The studio further explains:

We’ve updated Ambush for Operation Spectre Rising with a new ruleset. Players will now have access to all Sniper Rifles (with the exception of the SDM) plus Shotguns and the Bowie Knife, and we’re removing Concussion Grenades, Cluster Grenades, ATVs, and ARAV vehicles to focus the action on pure gunplay this time around. Jump in, get some matches under your belt, and let us know what you think of the new revisions once it’s live.

As well as the new version of Ambush; May 17th will see the introduction of a new Multiplayer Featured Playlist called the "Barebones Deathmatch Moshpit." This playlist will infuse the Barebones' ruleset with Kill Confirmed and Team Deathmatch.

Additionally, the amount of Nebulium Plasma that players earn will be doubled for a limited time - from May 16th to May 23rd.
