Stefano Sollima’s CALL OF DUTY Adaptation Is Reportedly Eyeing 2020 Or 2021 Release Date

According to the recent report, the Stefano Sollima-directed Call of Duty movie is currently casting with production set to begin in Spring 2019, as the adaptation is eyeing a 2020 or 2021 release date...

The long-rumored Call of Duty adaptation might be finally heading into production, as it is expected to begin shooting next Spring under the direction of Stefano Sollima. The Italian moviemaker and screenwriter is best known for his work on the popular Sky Atlantic crime series Gomorra, as he made his English language film debut with this year's action crime thriller Sicario: Day of the Soldado.

The Discussing Film crew recently had a chance to sit down and talk with screenwriter Kieran Fitzgerald (Snowden, Wormwood) who is penning Call of Duty's script. According to Fitzgerald, first casting meetings have already taken place and the movie's producers are currently in the process of picking up the casting members. The writer also revealed that the film is expected to begin shooting next Spring.

During the interview, Fitzgerald confirmed that Call of Duty is eyeing a 2020 or 2021 launch window. Activision Blizzard Studios’ presidents Stacey Sher and Nick van Dyk are set to produce the movie along with Activision Blizzard chief executive Bobby Kotick, as Stefano Sollima's adaptation doesn't have a distributor yet. The Call of Duty video game series has sold over 250 million copies worldwide.
