Bethesda and id Software's
Doom was one of the best games of 2016 due to the way it approached first-person shooters. The game was some sort of reimagining of the original
Doom released for PC in 1993, which revolutionised the first-person shooter genre.
Doom(2016) did the same for first-person shooters by introducing an engaging combat system that was not only encouraged, but also essential to stay alive—while also making the action almost non-stop. Needless to say,
Doom was not your ordinary first-person shooter game, which came as a much-needed breath of fresh air.
During this year's E3, Bethesda surprised us all with the announcement of
Doom Eternal, the sequel to the highly acclaimed
Doom released a couple of years earlier. The teaser was less than 2 minutes long but more than enough to get every single one of the members in the audience, as well as the ones watching at home, excited for it—leaving everyone wanting to see more of the game. We also found out, during the Bethesda E3 cofnerence, that we would be getting the chance to see
Doom Eternal in action at this year's QuakeCon and today, Bethesda delivered on their promise.
Bethesda has just released their whole QuakeCon presentation, showing off some
Quake Champions footage,
Rage 2 and, of course,
Doom Eternal. During the
Doom Eternal presentation, Creative Director Hugo Martin is joined by Game Director Marty Stratton to show off what the game has to offer. They go over some of the concept art for the game, some returning demons we haven't seen sicne the early 90s, the new "hookshot" mechanic that changes the way players will slay demons, and some of the action only
Doom can deliver.
The link we share is the whole QuakeCon conference but the
Doom Eternal bit starts at the 1h09min mark, although gameplay per se starts at the 1hour16min mark—which is what everyone wants to see any way.
UPDATE: Bethesda just uploaded the
Doom Eternal bit of the conference and is now available for people to watch on YouTube—all 25 minutes of glorious
Doom action.
