EVOLVE Is Slowly Dying As 2K Has Plans To Shut Down Dedicated Servers This September

Evolve never managed to become extremely popular, even after taking the free-to-play route, and 2K won't try to convince players any longer as the publisher has plans to shut down dedicated servers soon...

2K announced today that Evolve’s dedicated servers will be shutting down on September 3, 2018. This means features such as Hunt (Ranked), leaderboards and the in-game store won't be available. What's even worse, on 2nd July 2018, Stage 2, the free-to-download version of the game, will no longer be available on PC. It seems Turtle Rock's Evolve's time has finally and ultimately come.

However, anyone who purchased Evolve will still have access to Legacy Evolve (the original version of the asymmetrical shooter), peer-to-peer matchmaking, quick play, custom games, and all single-player options. 2K notes that any purchased monsters, hunters and skins won't disappear, but urges players to spend all in-game currency as fast as possible, at least before the in-game store shuts down.

Considering that Evolve is currently not even in Steam's top 100 games by concurrent users, it's shouldn’t be surprising that 2K has decided to stop supporting the ambitious, but also pretty repetitive online project. Back in 2016, developer Turtle Rock announced it would no longer work on Evolve, moving on to produce an unannounced dark fantasy game and some smaller VR games.

Play Evolve for free with Evolve Stage 2! Evolve Stage 2 is a next-generation free multiplayer shooter featuring addictive 4v1 gameplay. One player-controlled monster must evade and outsmart a team of four uniquely skilled hunters.
