Fallout 76 beta is now available to pre-load on PlayStation 4 and PC, following a week-long exclusivity period on Xbox One. The upcoming beta, which opens up on October 30 for PS4 and PC (and is already available on Xbox One), gives players a chance to dive into the post-nuclear world of Fallout 76, which is set in Appalachia - a representation of the West Virginia countryside - in the year 2102. Taking place 25 years after a nuclear war that devastated Earth, players will emerge from Vault 76 and attempt to rebuild.

The beta is considered a "work-in-progress" version of the game, serving as a way for Bethesda to identify and fix any bugs ahead of Fallout 76's launch next month. The beta is actually the full game, with plans for your progress to carry over once the game is live. However, Bethesda is limiting access to the beta to specific timed sessions in order to get as many people playing as possible at the same time so they can stress test the servers.

Below is the projected schedule of beta sessions for Fallout 76 across all platforms.

Fallout 76's beta size checks in at around 45GB, though you'll need more room on the PlayStation 4 as the actual installation requires around 95GB of free space. Beta sessions are already live this weekend for Xbox One, while PS4 and PC players will have their first chance at emerging from the vault on October 30.

Reclamation Day, 2102. Twenty-five years after the bombs fall, you and your fellow Vault Dwellers—chosen from the nation’s best and brightest – emerge into post-nuclear America. Play solo or join together as you explore, quest, build, and triumph against the wasteland’s greatest threats.

Fallout 76 will officially launch on November 14.
