HYPEX has shared some images on Twitter likely discovered within the game files of Fortnite which reveal a new throwable melee weapon that will seemingly be coming to the massively multiplayer online battle royale with the forthcoming third chapter.
Those who have played PlayStation 4's Game of the Year winner God of War will be familiar with Kratos' Leviathan battle axe. It seems Fortnite has a similar affair coming soon. The well-known Fortnite leaker @HYPEX posted these images with the caption "Upcoming "Throwable Axe" Item. No other info about it tho, just the model of it!"
So, it doesn't go without saying that this is certainly a brand new weapon that's coming soon, most likely with Chapter 3 — which all sources point to kicking off on December 7th (in just two weeks' time). Additionally, reputable sources in the Fortnite community have suggested that a Spider-Man skin will finally be officially available with Chapter 3 — find out more on that here.
HYPEX has proven themselves reputable countless times in the past, most recently with the apparent confirmation that sliding will be coming to Fortnite soon. So, these images are almost certainly legitimate. It's just a question of how this weapon will factor into the game. It could perhaps be thrown like a disposable and, in that case, deal a hefty amount of damage seeing as it's more of a one-time-use kind of thing.
