There Are Currently No Plans To Make STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT III Any Time Soon, Reveals Director

Don't hold your breath for DICE and Electronic Arts to make another Star Wars: Battlefront game any time soon, as Director Dennis Brannvall confirms there are no plans for another title in the near future.

The rebooted Star Wars: Battlefront series has been quite controversial pretty much since the first game was released back in November of 2015; with the sequel seeing as much, if not more, backlash from fans of the original Star Wars: Battlefront series.

If there is one thing that anyone can agree on when it comes to the new Star Wars: Battlefront series, is that microtransactions should've never been added into the mix — which is something that is actually a quite popular opinion for games in general; especially when it comes to games published or developed by Electronic Arts.

While Electronic Arts and DICE have addressed the microtransactions issue in the past, and have even managed to make them less of a problem for players — at least to a certain extent — some people still don't like the fact that they are still available; game changing or not.

In a recet interview with PCGamesN, Star Wars: Battlefront II Director Dennis Brannvall has revealed that they have no plans to develop another Star Wars: Battlefront title any time soon; addressing that there isn't the "same hunger" to make sequels.

"Sequels are probably still viable otherwise people wouldn’t be doing them, but it’s not the same hunger as it used to be. We were so used to the chain of sequels, where we do a sequel then we do a season pass for a year then move onto the next game. I think the industry has changed on that… before it was very transactional and we made the game and we signed up for 4 DLCs and then that’s it. So then you focus on getting value to players out of what they paid for and if there was a system that wasn’t working then you put a pin in that and say we will fix it in the sequel."

Star Wars: Battlefront II was very poorly received when it launched in November of 2017, but it has been slowly been regaining some of the fanbase by adding a bunch of free DLC that have finally make the game worth trying out.

If EA DICE ever decide to make another Star Wars: Battlefront title, they have, at the very least, learned a valuable lesson with all of the backlash they've been seeing since they rebooted the Battlefront series. Hopefully what Brannvall is true, and they are, indeed, considering to fix everything that wasn't working in an eventual sequel.
