While fans of the long-running Splinter Cell series would definitely love to see the official confirmation that Ubisoft is working on a new game with Sam Fisher, it looks like the French publisher just casually shut down any rumors about the immediate return of Splinter Cell. As a reminder, Ubisoft said last Friday that a never-before-seen Tom Clancy's game would be showcased for the first time on May 9th.
The Ghost Recon team just shared a brand new post on Twitter, announcing that this mysterious Tom Clancy's is, as expected, a Ghost Recon project – and given that the series’ logo that debuted in 2017's Ghost Recon: Wildlands is back, it rather safe to say that we're looking at a sequel to that title.
The fact that Ubisoft still doesn't have its own battle royale title suggests that the yet-to-be-announced sequel could potentially feature a PUBG-like game mode, maybe even with heroes from other Tom Clancy's games returning to play a role in the battlefield – but it's just a guessing game at this point.
The reveal of the next Tom Clancy's video game will take place on Thursday, May 9th, at 11:30 PDT.
