The Long-Delayed DEAD ISLAND 2 Is Still In Active Development, According To THQ Nordic CEO

While many players probably completely forgot about Dead Island 2, after its truly endless series of delays, the zombie sandbox is still in the works — at least according THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors...

While Techland has successfully managed to develop a highly successful substitute for their original Dead Island in the Dying Light series, the team at Deep Silver (and the company's owner, THQ Nordic) has been struggling with the full-blown sequel to the Techland-created game for quite some time now.

Although it doesn't seem like Dead Island 2 will hit stores anytime soon (it was supposed to launch back in 2015), it looks like the title is not completely dead, even after losing its first developer (Yager Development) and most definitely its second one (Sumo Digital). According to THQ Nordic CEO Lars Wingefors, Dead Island 2 is “still being worked on,” so there's a chance it will be shown at E3 2019.

Rumor has it that Dambuster Studios, the makers of the highly divisive Homefront: The Revolution, are now taking care of Dead Island 2, but that particular detail hasn't been officially confirmed just yet.

Considering that it took Techland over five years of troubled development and one full reboot to finish the works on 2011's Dead Island, the upcoming sequel definitely lives up to its acclaimed zombiefied predecessor – at least when it comes to the pure and never-ending behind-the-scenes drama.

Dead Island is heading to California for a Summer that never dies! Grab your friends and become the zombie's apocalypse in the co-op vacation of a lifetime.

Dead Island 2 was originally supposed to launch in 2015.
