It's harder and harder to successfully jump on the
Dark Souls bandwagon as players will have a chance to check out
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Lords of the Fallen 2, The Surge 2, and many more "Soulslike" projects in the upcoming months, and all of them borrow many gameplay mechanics from Software's series. But
Code Vein has at least one advantage over all of them - Director Hiroshi Yoshimura.
The artist who also helmed
God Eater has helped to shape
Code Vein, so it shouldn't be surprising that the game's universe looks wonderfully bizarre, and a steampunk cat will surely make an impression.
Code Vein is already available to pre-order on
Amazon for those who don’t want to miss out on getting their copy first, available for both PS4 and Xbox One. IGN recently had an opportunity to play and record 11 minutes of raw gameplay from the upcoming slasher, featuring a partner character Yakumo and an exciting boss fight that truly reminds me of
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within. Take a look:
In the not too distant future, a mysterious disaster has brought collapse to the world as we know it. Towering skyscrapers, once symbols of prosperity, are now lifeless graves of humanity’s past pierced by the Thorns of Judgment. At the center of the destruction lies a hidden society of Revenants called Vein. This final stronghold is where the remaining few fight to survive, blessed with Gifts of power in exchange for their memories and a thirst for blood.
Code Vein will be available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Septmeber 28, 2018.
