Westeros is about to open its gates once again, this time in the form of Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, a new action-adventure RPG created by Netmarble and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game officially enters Early Access on Steam starting March 26th, giving players the first chance to explore the Seven Kingdoms in a new story-driven RPG format.
Before the Early Access period begins, players can purchase one of several Founder’s Packs starting March 21st. These packs come in multiple tiers and include not only Early Access privileges, but also exclusive items like unique costumes, mounts, season passes, and more. Full details are available on the game’s Steam page, along with a brand-new Founder’s Pack trailer previewing what’s inside.
Mobile players aren't left out in the dark either! Kingsroad is also open for pre-registration on the App Store and Google Play. Once the game launches, it will support full cross-play and cross-progression between PC and mobile, letting players jump between platforms without losing progress. A neat and great feature in this day and age of gaming.
Set in the richly detailed world of Game of Thrones, the game promises a faithful recreation of key locations like Winterfell, Castle Black, and King’s Landing. Players will take part in large-scale battles and co-op adventures, carving out their own legacy in George R.R. Martin’s world. Netmarble has worked closely with HBO and Warner Bros. to bring the continent of Westeros to life like never before.
To help provide transparency for fans, the developers have released an FAQ about the Early Access launch. The initial version of the game will include 50 chapters of the main story, hundreds of side missions, co-op dungeons, and even endgame PvE challenges. The Early Access period is expected to last at least four weeks, during which time Netmarble will use player feedback to refine and expand the experience.
More content is already planned for the full release, including new regions like Storm’s End and Felwood, open-world content, and additional cooperative gameplay. The final version of the game will be free-to-play, although Founder’s Packs will remain available post-launch (minus Early Access perks).
Whether you're a longtime fan of the books and show or a newcomer to the world of Westeros, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad could be a new and immersive RPG that offers deep lore, thrilling combat, and community-driven development.
