Nintendo fans have been clamouring for The Big N to re-release some GameCube games on their popular handheld hybrid system, the Nintendo Switch, and it seems that the developer may be considering to do more than just that; at least for one particular game.
It seems that, as of late, Nintendo has been hevily teasing
Super Mario Sunshine's return in some form. The tropical-themed game is a somewhat divisive title amongst fans of the
Super Mario Bros. series, but it still holds a special place in most Nintendo fans' hearts.
Nintendo first seemingly teased
Super Mario Sunshine during this year's Gamescom — which took place in Cologne, Germany from the 20th of August throught the 24th of August — where they shared a tweet that immediately made fans of the series think the game was being teased.
As per the tweet, it suggested that Mario needed "
a little Summer vacation", and also wishing Mario that "
No matter where your summer odyssey took you, we hope it was filled with sunshine," with "sunshine" being the keyword here.
Things get even more interesting during their live panels, where Nintendo sneaked some tropical fruits like a watermelon and a pineapple(both fruits that Yoshi could eat in
Super Mario Sunshine to fill his juice meter) as the Nintendo Europe crew showcased some upcoming titles.
Of course, this is all fan speculation, but Nintendo has been caught doing stuff like this in the past when low-key hinting at remastered versions of classic titles. While this is obviously a rumor, chances that Nintendo may be working on a
Super Mario Sunshine title — be it a remaster or a sequel — are pretty high.
Let's just keep our fingers crossed for this to become a reality in the near future.
